  This statue situated in the Town centre is the infamous Granny, a character created by the world renown cartoonist the late Carl Giles and was erected in his memory. Most of Giles's work being created from his Ipswich office over many decades.

The idea behind this web site is to offer a personal view of the town as seen
by myself the author I hope also to provide a continually updated picture gallery of photographs taken recently of new and old structures, buildings and well known Ipswich landmarks.

It is planned not only with local people in mind but also for visitors, such as
the many people coming from all over East Anglia to enjoy the town's nightlife
scene or the Football club. I hope also to provide something of interest for those who used to live in the town, or very nearby, such as the many thousands of American servicemen and their families stationed here on a rotating basis for 4 decades at the twin airbases of Woodbridge and Bentwaters.
